When life is going 100 miles an hour, as an owner established/growing business, you should keep your finger on the pulse. 

 

All you need to make sure

 

On a monthly basis (around 25th of every month) that, your payroll is run correctly and reports have been submitted to HMRC. 

On a monthly basis (around 15th of every month) that, the PAYE liability has been paid to HMRC.

On a quarterly basis (based on your set quarters with HMRC) that, VAT return has been submitted to HMRC. This could be monthly or annual based on your arrangements with HMRC.

On yearly basis, that annual return is submitted to Companies House.

On a yearly basis, that annual accounts are submitted to Companies House.

On a yearly basis, that corporation tax return is submitted to HMRC.

On a yearly basis, that your SA return is submitted to HMRC.

 

This is a list of most common tasks for businesses in general. However, special rules might be applicable for your business. For example, if you sale good/services to Europe, in addition to VAT returns, you will have to send EC sales lists.
